WWE News: What happened when SmackDown Live went off the air?
What's the story?
After 205 Live, there was a dark match which took place between the duo of Randy Orton and AJ Styles, and the unlikely team of Sami Zayn and Jinder Mahal.
In case you didn't know.....
This week's SmackDown Live Main Event saw Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens face each other in an epic match, to decide who would become the fourth member of SmackDown's team at Survivor Series. Nakamura was able to emerge victoriously and is now set to join Shane McMahon, Bobby Roode and Randy Orton, representing SmackDown Live at Survivor Series.
Nakamura was able to win the match from a distraction provided by Randy Orton when he attacked Sami Zayn, who was clearing the announce table for Owens to use.
The heart of the matter
After 205 Live had aired, a dark match took place when Sami Zayn teamed up with the Modern Day Maharaja, to take on the team of AJ Styles and Randy Orton.
Jinder Mahal had beaten up AJ Styles with the help of the Singh Brothers earlier in the night, after his match against Samir Singh.
The Dark Match saw AJ get a measure of revenge as he and Randy were able to defeat Sami Zayn and Mahal. The match saw the wrestlers a bit free as there were no cameras focused on them, and they had fun with the match.
What's next?
Next week, AJ Styles is set to take on Rusev, to determine the final spot for the SmackDown Live Men's team.
With neither Kevin nor Sami in the team, it will be interesting to see what they shift their attention to.
Author's take
Dark matches are always more fun for wrestlers as they are not under pressure to perform with the whole world watching their every move.
