What Vince McMahon told all WWE employees regarding Donald Trump
Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is a WWE Hall Of Famer and was actively involved with WWE at two points of time - first for the "Battle Of The Billionaires" storyline that culminated at Wrestlemania 23, and secondly for an angle where he "purchased" WWE.
Since then, Trump has become one of the most controversial political figures today.
According to Daily Wrestling News, major media outlets have attempted to contact WWE employees over the last few months, to dig for dirt about Trump and his appearances in WWE. Vince McMahon has told both current and former employees not to open their mouths about Trump.
It was also revealed that Linda McMahon donated $6 million to the Rebuilding America Now, a PAC (Political Action Committee) that supports Trump’s campaign. Vince and Linda also donated $5 million to the Donald J. Trump Foundation from 2007 through 2009. The couple is among the top 10 donors to the Presidential Candidate’s campaign.
However, former WWE star, Maria Kanellis, spoke to CNN regarding her time spent with Trump in the WWE. She had less than pleasing things to say about the Presidential Candidate.
It is an excellent move by WWE to not bring up Donald Trump (or Hilary Clinton for that matter). It is good they don’t weigh in on the election, because whatever side they take, they are bound to upset a large group of people.
Plus, given that they are a company that focuses on sports entertainment, there is absolutely no need to weigh in on the elections at all. Taking a public stance in support of a specific candidate would undoubtedly hurt their brand.
Yesterday on Talking Smack, Daniel Bryan commented on Donald Trump, and he mentioned that they were telling him, in his earpiece, to steer away from that.
Here is the buildup for the Battle Of The Billionaires match at Wrestlemania 23
