What’s the story?

WWE RAW superstar Sami Zayn has said he would like to see singer and songwriter Cyndi Lauper, inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

In case you didn’t know

Lauper is a singer, songwriter, actor, and activist, and has won several music awards, including two Grammys, as well as an Emmy and a Tony award.

She entered into the wrestling world after WWE Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano played her father in the music video for ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’, one of her most iconic, best-selling songs.

Forming a partnership, Vince McMahon agreed to play the star's music at events, and Lauper would promote the wrestling promotion during interviews.

At the 1984 event 'The Brawl to End It All', Lauper helped her client Wendi Richter defeat the Fabulous Moolah for the WWF Women's Championship, ending Moolah's historic 28 years as the champion.

The show brought in a 9.0 Nielsen rating, which was a record for MTV.

The following year, Lauper appeared at the first WrestleMania, alongside fellow celebrities such as Liberace and Boxing icon Muhammad Ali.

In 2012, Lauper made a brief return to the WWE, appearing on Monday Night RAW.

The heart of the matter

In a tweet, the Underdog from the Underground said how Lauper was a crucial part of WWE crossing over into mainstream entertainment.

What’s next?

There's no denying that Lauper has had an incredible career, both inside and outside the wrestling world.

It would be incredible to see her inducted into the celebrity wing of the Hall of Fame, and to hear the stories she would have to tell of her time in the industry.

If inducted, Lauper would join the likes of Terminator/Predator star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was inducted in 2015, and A-Team actor Mr. T, who was inducted in 2014.
