WWE News: Will Goldberg get physical on RAW?
All eyes will be on this week’s Monday Night RAW because this particular episode is special in the sense that it will mark the return of Goldberg to WWE after 12 long years. The chants of ‘Goldberg, Goldberg’ are sure to echo in Denver, Colorado when he returns to answer Paul Heyman’s challenge.
It is definite that Goldberg will accept Heyman’s challenge and meet Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a rematch of their WrestleMania XX clash. The duo would like to erase memories of that lacklustre matchup where they failed to live up to the hype.
Even the beer guzzling charisma of Stone Cold Steve Austin as special referee couldn’t save the match from the incessant boos of the crowd.
It hasn’t been decided if Goldberg will get into the ring for a match tonight though. All facts point to the negative, however, Goldberg may be booked to take down a lower midcard talent just to restore the faith of the fans that he still has it in him to take on the ‘Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar.
A majority of the WWE Universe has been skeptical about Goldberg’s return and wondered if he would still continue to be the brute force of nature that he was during his WCW days. Last week, Paul Heyman didn’t mince words when he said some harsh words for the WCW legend, following his ESPN interview.
Heyman said that their WrestleMania XX clash had left a bad taste in Lesnar’s mouth and he would like to get rid of it as soon as possible.
Goldberg took to social media to inform that he would be answering Heyman’s challenge on Monday Night RAW. WWE also confirmed his appearance with a tweet.
However, a major question mark remains whether Goldberg will be fit to compete in the WWE against a physical opponent such as Lesnar. Goldberg has been away from the ring for a while now and ring rust would definitely be an issue for the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
ESPN’s Jonathan Coachman also voiced similar concerns during Goldberg’s interview last week. Goldberg had earlier admitted that he would need till the end of the year to get into shape for in ring competition. It was earlier speculated that the match between Goldberg and Lesnar would happen at WrestleMania.
This sudden change in plans is sure to attract some views to see how Goldberg fares against Lesnar.
Goldberg, however, is of the view that he has beaten Lesnar once and he would relish the opportunity to do it again when Survivor Series airs on November 20 from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada.
