WWE News: Will Ospreay hints at a match with Neville
What’s the story?
Recently, there have been several reporting suggesting that former WWE Cruiserweight champion Neville might quit WWE.
Since then the news has gone viral on social media and among various other wrestlers. The Young Bucks also tweeted out, inviting Neville to join the Bullet Club. However, they weren’t the only ones commenting on the story.
The newly crowned IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, Will Ospreay, also took to Twitter to indicate that he wanted a match against the two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
In case you didn’t know…
Pro Wrestling Sheet originally reported that Neville walked out during this week’s episode of Raw after being denied a Cruiserweight Championship rematch against Enzo Amore — who eventually went on to lose the belt to Kalisto on the same night.
The heart of the matter
On October 11, 2017, current IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Will Ospreay decided to challenge Neville to a match. Judging by his tweet, it appears that “The Aerial Assassin” himself isn’t sure about Neville quitting WWE. But that did not stop the former PROGRESS Wrestling champion from angling for a match with his countryman.
Both Ospreay and Neville hail from the UK and are considered as Cruiserweight/Junior Heavyweight, thus the two men have pretty similar in-ring styles.
What’s next?
Ospreay is currently set to have his first junior heavyweight title defence against Bullet Club member Marty Scurll. On the other hand, there hasn't been any confirmation that Neville has quit WWE. For the time being, it is safe to assume that he's still part of the Cruiserweight Division.
Author’s take
A match between Neville and Ospreay has the potential to be phenomenal, in my opinion. Both of them are top British prospects and have similar high flying skills inside the ring. I, personally, would love to see them wrestle in NJPW.
