What's the story?
WWE has recently posted on their official website that NXT General Manager William Regal will be present at the upcoming Evolve Wrestling show, Evolve 96 and will be scouting all the talent that the promotion has to offer.
In case you didn't know...
Evolve Wrestling is an American Independent Wrestling promotion that was founded by former Ring of Honor and Dragon Gate USA vice-president, Gabe Sapolsky in 2010.
Evolve is one of the best Indy promotions in today's world and have been booking some of the top talents.
It had formed a working relationship with WWE in 2015, which allowed WWE to scout and sign Evolve Wrestling's talent for their NXT brand.
The heart of the matter
Regal will be present at Long Island, New York later this week on December 8th, 2017 in order to keep an eye out for WWN's tryout seminar.
He will also be present at Evolve 96 which will feature current WWN Champion Keith Lee defend his title against Walter. Other than that, current Evolve Wrestling Champion and Cruiserweight Classic contestant Zack Sabre Jr. will also wrestle against DJZ. The likes of Matt Riddle, AR Fox, Fred Yehi and more are also on the match card.
It has also been reported by WWE that at least one individual will be selected to become an NXT extra.
Regal himself has confirmed the news regarding him being present at Evolve 96. He said,
"I’ll be there to represent WWE as we keep a pulse on the talent that will lead the business into and throughout 2018. We value the independent wrestling scene, and it’s our goal to strengthen it."
What's next?
With Regal set to be present at Evolve 96, later this week, it has also been confirmed that the NXT GM will be available to fans at Long Beach for autographs and photographs.
As noted by WWE, it can also be stated that the WWE Universe could possibly witness the signing of at least one superstar from the current Evolve roster.
Author's Take
Personally, I am excited to see which superstar Regal and the NXT management decides to handpick from this week's show.
With top names such as Keith Lee, Walter, and Matt Riddle it can be said that the development brand of the WWE could soon get the chance to see a big name in the wrestling world get signed with the WWE.
