WWE News: 'Woken' Matt Hardy reacts to Jeff Hardy's arrest
What's the story?
News broke earlier today that Jeff Hardy was allegedly arrested for driving while impaired and was later released. Soon after the news broke, Matt Hardy sent out a tweet referencing the incident.
In case you didn’t know…
Hardy was arrested for allegedly driving while impaired at 10:20 p.m. on March 10th, but was subsequently released about an hour later at 11: 24 p.m. according to a report originally published by PWInsider.
WWE later released a statement which essential held Jeff Hardy responsible for his personal actions, and said they would further enquire into the incident.
The heart of the matter
While The Charismatic Enigma is yet to comment on the situation, his brother Matt has taken to social media to let his thoughts be known about the incident. In typical 'Woken'/'Broken' style, Hardy has asserted that ever since the '7 Deities' came to him, he himself has abstained from alcohol or any other drugs.
Here is the tweet by Matt Hardy:
It is still too soon to say what consequences Jeff Hardy will have to face in WWE for his actions. Jey Uso was in a similar situation last month, and it seems like he was let off without any visible punishment by WWE.
What's next?
Jeff Hardy suffered a shoulder injury on an episode of Raw back in September and has been absent from WWE programming ever since, except for a brief appearance at the Raw 25 show.
The high-flyer has been rumoured to be fit enough to make his return sometime before WrestleMania 34, but it remains to be seen if this unfortunate incident has any effect on his WWE career going forward.
Author's take
Jeff Hardy has had his share of issues with substance abuse in the past. It seemed like he had put his demons behind him when this unfortunate incident occurred.
DWI is not to be taken lightly as Hardy might have ended up jeopardising not only his career but his own and others' lives as well.
