WWE News: Women's division match featuring Carmella and Becky Lynch set for next week's SmackDown

What's the story?

The WWE SmackDown Live's women's division has many focused around the rivalry between the Riott Squad and the other women on the roster, but next week it looks like some of the other female Superstars will get the spotlight.

In case you didn't know...

Carmella is the first ever female Money in the Bank holder and speculation has been growing as to when the 'Princess of Staten Island' will finally cash-in her Money in the Bank briefcase. She's even teased a few cash-ins but each attempt has been thwarted so far.

Becky Lynch has had an on-off rivalry with Carmella, most recently when James Ellsworth was still Carmella's valet, it was actually Becky Lynch beating Ellsworth in WWE's first inter-gender match in quite some time that led to Carmella ending her relationship with Ellsworth and his departure from the company.

The heart of the matter

WWE tweeted a video showing Carmella and Natalya gloating over the fact Ruby Riott defeated Naomi on this week's show. Becky Lynch interrupted and tweeted out asking if anyone would like to see her slap the head off Carmella next week, seemingly making the match between the two official.

What's even better is that Becky actually sent the tweet she talks about in the video, meaning that the WWE clearly do care about continuity when it comes to certain things. You can see that tweet below.

What's next?

I can't remember the last time I saw Carmella properly wrestle, but I'm sure it was against Becky Lynch around a month or so ago. SmackDown really seems hell-bent on repeating itself at the moment. But, this does seem like a good way to keep Carmella relevant for when she does cash-in.

Author's take

Becky Lynch is gold in everything she does on social media. Why she isn't a bigger star in WWE is beyond me.
