WWE News: Women's Royal Rumble rules set on RAW

This could be a
This should be something special

The first-ever WWE Women's Royal Rumble was announced in surprising fashion. Although the writing was on the wall for this historic match to eventually take place, the women in the ring reportedly didn't even know Stephanie McMahon was going to announce the ground-breaking match when it went down to close out Raw a few weeks ago.

There have already been a few women to enter the picture for the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match including Naomi and Asuka but there are going to be plenty more in the match as well because Kurt Angle started off Raw this week by announcing that the powers that be, including Stephanie McMahon, Shane McMahon, and himself, had talked it out and decided on a set of rules for the Women's Royal Rumble match.

He said if the rules are good enough for the men, then they'll be good enough for the women as well. Therefore, Kurt Angle announced the Women's Royal Rumble Match will include 30 participants in an over the top rope setting where the winner will get a shot at a title in New Orleans on April 8th.

This number of 30 participants is very interesting because if you add up all of the women on the active roster you get 22 females ready to enter the match. But the champions of either brand aren't likely to be in the Women's Royal Rumble match, therefore there are probably 10 openings for surprises, special guests, legends, and maybe an NXT spot or two.

Either way, this will be exciting and the match will be groundbreaking. The Royal Rumble pay-per-view event is going to be full of a lot of Royal Rumble action as well. Especially if the pacing of both matches is about the same. This event might need to be four hours if we're talking about fitting two hour-long Royal Rumble matches in there.

Either way, it will still be a great night of action to kick off the Road To WrestleMania.
