WWE News: Women's Tag Team Division and Championships could be added to RAW
What's the story?
The women of WWE have been making a lot of history over the past few months and it seems that ahead of the first-ever women's Royal Rumble match, there are more women currently employed by WWE than ever before. This means that a Women's Tag Team Division could be in the plans for WWE in the coming months.
In case you didn't know...
The women's Division is currently populated by a number of teams including Absolution, Sasha Banks and Bayley and even The Riott Squad which means that right now would be the perfect time for WWE to introduce Championship titles.
Impact Wrestling unveiled Knockout's Tag Team Championships a number of years ago and current NXT star Eric Young is a former Champion, but it seems that these titles were short-lived since Impact Wrestling didn't have the depth in their Women's Division that WWE currently has.
There are a number of women on the roster with nothing to do currently and it seems that these Championships would be a form of salvation for these women since they are not set to be part of the main title picture in the coming months.
The heart of the matter
WWE recently posted a teaser article on WWE.com where they talked about eight things that we want to happen in 2018. Women's Tag Team Championships were part of the article which also included Finn Balor chasing the Universal Championship, The Undertaker facing John Cena at WrestleMania and Batista returning to WWE for one more match.
There is also a paragraph about the women of WWE main eventing one of the "big four" pay-per-views, which just goes to show that 2018 could become a huge year for women in wrest
With the upcoming Women's Royal Rumble and the possibility that another women's team in the form of the Iconic Duo set to be called up in the coming months, it would be logical that WWE would want to add another Championship option to the Women's Division so that the women can expand the time that they currently are showcased on WWE TV.
What's next?
The women of WWE make history in just two weeks time when they compete in the first ever all-women's Royal Rumble. There could also be a number of call-ups from NXT in the coming weeks that could impact on the decisions that WWE are set to make.
Authors take
The women of WWE have been making a lot of history as of late and it would be fantastic for them to be given another division so that it wasn't all about the Women's Championship. Women's Tag Team Championships have never been a thing in WWE, but it will be interesting to see how WWE manage to integrate these into their current programming.
