WWE News: WrestleMania 35 returns to Met-Life Stadium in New Jersey
A day before the official press conference, WWE confirmed their return to Met-Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey as the site for WrestleMania 35 on April 7, 2019.
Met-Life Stadium was the host of WrestleMania 29 and earned the company $72 million in ticket sales and pay-per-view buys in 2013 with an attendance of 80,676.
Though it received mostly negative reviews, WrestleMania 29 was historic in featuring the WrestleMania debut of The Shield, the last World Heavyweight Championship match in WrestleMania History, Brock Lesnar's return to WrestleMania against Triple H, CM Punk's last WrestleMania match against The Undertaker and the final match between John Cena and The Rock.
WWE achieved 1,048,000 pay per views for the event which was down from the all-time record set by WrestleMania 28 in Miami, Florida which generated 1,217,000 PPV viewers the previous year.
Despite the lower butyrate, WrestleMania 29 was the 6th highest grossing WrestleMania of all-time.WrestleMania 29 also holds the distinction as the last WrestleMania to be purchased strictly via pay-per-view buys due to the company offering WrestleMania on the WWE Network following its launch in 2014.
WrestleMania weekend brings in millions for cities with other wrestling companies looking to cash-in on wrestling fans congregating in one place for one of the biggest shows of the year.
WrestleMania 29 had one of the most extravagant sets of all-time and will likely be expected to top the theme-park design from WrestleMania 33.
