WWE News: WrestleMania opponents team up after SmackDown Live goes off air
What's the story?
Even after the cameras stopped rolling, following this week's edition of Smackdown Live (and the MMC/205 Live), the action didn't stop at all. There was a main event match that saw two WrestleMania opponents team up, against a dastardly heel unit.
AJ Styles and Nakamura united to face the team of Baron Corbin and Jinder Mahal. The babyfaces were victorious in this massive encounter, according to Wrestling Inc.
In case you didn't know...
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated 30 other competitors and won the Royal Rumble match, and earned a chance to face a champion of his choice at WrestleMania 34.
He would choose WWE Champion AJ Styles, in a dream match that fans have yearned to see for many years now, following their classic at Wrestle Kingdom 10.
The two men are babyfaces and have teamed up as recently as last week as well when they took on the duo of Owens and Zayn.
The heart of the matter
At the conclusion of SmackDown Live, AJ Styles was informed that he would be defending his Championship against not one, but two men, at WWE Fastlane. Shortly afterwards, he would face off against the duo of Jinder Mahal and Baron Corbin.
Styles and Nakamura would triumph against the heel unit. It's interesting to note that only hours earlier, Nakamura and AJ Styles shared a moment backstage, where the former teased beating the latter at WrestleMania
What's next?
AJ Styles is embroiled in a feud with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. As for Baron Corbin, he is slated to face Dolph Ziggler next week. And the Maharaja, Jinder Mahal, has been teasing a feud with Rob Gronkowski for WrestleMania.
Author's take
I find it funny every time the 'Lone Wolf' teams up with someone, even if it is for a dark segment. Looks like this wolf believes in pack mentality too.
Much like the rest of you, I cannot wait for the Nakamura-Styles match at WrestleMania.
