What’s the story?

Per Reddit user uckTheSaints, Nigel McGuinness seemed to have gotten stuck in his chair.

At the most recent set of NXT tapings, McGuinness was stuck in his chair at the commentary table and had to be rescued by multiple people.

In case you didn’t know…

Nigel McGuinness is perhaps best known as Desmond Wolfe for his time in TNA (now—Impact Wrestling) as an in-ring performer.

McGuinness eventually transitioned to the role of a commentator, initially working for ROH and later joining the WWE.

The heart of the matter

McGuinness has been working in the WWE since December of 2016, as a colour commentator on multiple brands.

While McGuinness and other members of the WWE commentary team are provided appropriate seating arrangements for them to call the action from, the retired British professional wrestler seemed to have had a terrible experience with a certain chair he was accorded.

Per multiple sources who attended the NXT tapings, McGuinness was trapped in the chair at an awkward angle, with his legs bent to one side. While the situation seemed to be nothing serious at first, McGuinness was virtually immobilized by the chair and had to be rescued by several people who helped dislodge him from the seat. Fans can check out the photo of McGuinness’ struggle with the chair below—

What’s next?

Nigel McGuinness presently serves as a colour commentator on the WWE’s NXT, Main Event and 205 Live brands.

His incident with the chair seems to have gotten the well-known WWE announcer considerable attention in the professional wrestling community, primarily owing to the sheer bizarreness of the happening.

Author’s take

Nigel McGuinness is usually spot-on with his commentary & match analysis, and has a great sense of humour.

He’s sure to take this odd incident in stride, and here’s hoping we don’t see a future showdown between McGuinness and ‘The Chair’. After all, this won’t be the first time that an inanimate object has challenged a wrestler—
