Even the hardcore Mick Foley knows when enough is enough

What's the story?

Sports Illustrated interviewed WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, and in the interview, Foley, known for being one of the most hardcore WWE Superstars of all time (especially when it comes to the Hell in a Cell match), said that he personally feels that Shane McMahon needs put a halt to his maneuvers from atop of the Hell-in-a-Cell structure.

In case you didn't know....

Mick Foley is one of the best WWE Superstars ever, with his different characters (such as Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love) capturing the hearts of wrestling fans over the years.

The extreme-styled legend was no stranger to taking the most dangerous of risks in a WWE ring, such as with barbed wire baseball bats, fire and thumbtacks.

However, Mick Foley is most notorious for taking his craziest, death-defying stunts when in/on Hell in a Cell. Fans will always remember how he (as Mankind) was thrown off the top of the Cell by The Undertaker in their match at The King of the Ring 1998.

Note: If you don't remember it, Mick's body definitely does.

This wasn't the only time Foley put his body through such agonizing pain. Another infamous example of his incredible toughness was at No Way Out 2000, in his match against Triple H. During their brawl, Triple H backdropped Foley (then wrestling as Cactus Jack) through the Cell into the ring.

Shane-O-Mac, meanwhile, has just as much of a reputation when it comes to daredevil offence as Mick Foley does. At the SmackDown Live PPV, Hell in a Cell, he jumped off the top of Hell in a Cell in a match against Kevin Owens. He had done this before as well, at WrestleMania 32, during another HIAC match, this time against the Undertaker.

The heart of the matter

Mick Foley was asked by Sports Illustrated as to what he thought about Shane McMahon's recent leap from the Cell in his bout against Kevin Owens.

Foley gave the spot a thumb's down, saying he was hoping that Shane 'wouldn't do it', and now he is hoping he won't do it again. Foley cited Shane's children as a reason why the SmackDown Live Commissioner should not put his life at risk with such moves again.

However, Foley still thinks Shane deserves 'all the credit in the world' for being so 'fearless', calling McMahon the 'bravest guy I know'.

When asked about his own stunts in the past, which may have started this falling off the Cell trend, so to speak, Foley explained that a guy like himself, who lacked in-ring agility and athleticism, needed to find some other way to stand out from the rest of the WWE roster among the WWE Universe.

Hence, the hardcore legend did dauntless acts to make up for what he couldn't do.

What's next?

Shane McMahon will seemingly continue to wrestle on special occasions. He will captain Team SmackDown at the Survivor Series PPV for the RAW vs. SmackDown 5-on-5 men's elimination match.

Mick Foley will be back on RAW in the New Year's to make an appearance along with other WWE legends such as The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels as RAW celebrates its 25th Anniversary on the January 22nd edition.

Author's take

I think we can all agree with Mick Foley that Shane McMahon needs to stop with the Hell in a Cell bumps. In his match against Kevin Owens, it was really unnecessary, as we have seen him do it before against Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.

What was the need to put his life at risk again? Seeing it the first time was fun, the second time we realize it is just plain silly.

Despite this, I understand that crazy moves is part of the Shane McMahon character, especially due to his subpar in-ring ability. I am fine with him doing his schtick, but the Hell in a Cell stuff has just got to stop.
