WWE News: Hulk Hogan "ready" to return
What's the story?
Even though he hasn't been seen in WWE since his racism scandal, it appears that Hulk Hogan is now "ready" to return to the company that made him a pop culture icon. The Florida native made this comment in an interview with TMZ.
In case you didn't know...
In 2015, WWE decided to terminate their relationship with Hogan after his racist comments were leaked on the internet. Every trace of the "Immortal One" was removed from WWE's website and superstars were told not to mention the Hall of Famer on TV.
Recently this seems to have changed, there have been mentions of Hogan as part of the product with Seth Rollins even mimicking his famous moveset at several live events last year. Things seem to be changing for Hogan, which many fans believe could be WWE planting the seeds for a return.
The heart of the matter
Hulk Hogan recently spoke to TMZ where he revealed that he is ready to return to wrestling now, it just has to be the right time for both parties.
“For me, I’d love to change that last story that was told with the Hulk Hogan career. I’d love to get back in the fold, get back on the inside and correct a lot of stuff. It has to be the perfect timing for both sides. We’re all on good terms. We’re all working towards the same goal. So hopefully, I’ll be able to be back with my wrestling family some day soon.”
Many of the WWE Universe thought that WWE would bite the bullet and bring Hogan back for the 25th Anniversary, but this obviously didn't happen, which leaves his future up in the air, unless he is set for another WrestleMania return.
What's next?
What is next for Hulk Hogan? It seems that his life hit rock bottom a few years ago and thanks to his very public lawsuit he has been able to get back on track. It is unknown what WWE's current stance on Hogan is, but given the fact that the restrictions surrounding him have seemingly been lifted, maybe WWE is ready to welcome him back too.
Author's take
It's a delicate situation, WWE knows that they don't want any bad press and they can ill afford it right now with everything they are trying to promote, which could be why they have held off on bringing Hogan back until now.
Three years is a long time; people obviously don't forget, but Hogan has apologised and if the WWE Universe is ready to forgive, then maybe WWE themselves are ready to as well.
