WWE News: WWE officially announces Mixed Match Challenge
What’s the story?
WWE has today announced a new series called the Mixed Match Challenge, which will stream live and exclusively on Facebook on Tuesday nights starting January 16th.
In case you didn’t know...
For a while now, there have been rumours that WWE has been planning to begin airing a new type of weekly product in association with Facebook, and now, those rumours have been confirmed.
The heart of the matter
The following release comes from WWE.com, which was sent out alongside the rest of the information seen in the article. The allowance of fans being able to vote for things will remind some old school fans of the Cyber Sunday pay per view, which was left solely in the hands of the WWE Universe.
"Facebook and WWE today announced a new in-ring series, Mixed Match Challenge, that will stream live in the U.S. exclusively on Facebook on Tuesday nights beginning Jan.16 at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT. The 12-episode series will air on Facebook Watch and feature WWE Superstars from both the Raw and SmackDown LIVE rosters competing in a single-elimination mixed tag-team tournament to win $100,000 to support the charity of their choice."
What’s next?
WWE has claimed that each 20-minute episode will allow members of the WWE Universe to interact with superstars during the show, and as well as that, we will be eligible to select match stipulations and the actual bouts take place.
Author’s take
This is certainly an interesting concept that will create a great deal of buzz among fans, and it further proves how serious WWE is when it comes to expanding their horizons on social media.
