WWE News: WWE printed materials seemingly confirm John Cena vs The Undertaker for WrestleMania
What's the story?
After John Cena spent the past four episodes of Monday Night Raw unsuccessfully calling out The Undertaker, the WWE Universe has been left in limbo as to whether the match is actually going ahead or not.
Well, fans in New Orleans have been posting photos tonight of how WWE is advertising the card for this weekend's event - and it looks like we'll definitely be seeing the dream match take place!
In case you didn't know...
After coming up short at every attempt to get into a match at WrestleMania, John Cena was at a loss for how he would fit in on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
After figuring out that his road to WrestleMania should be on one Last Ride with The Undertaker, Cena has relentlessly called out The Deadman week after week, but The Undertaker hasn't shown his face.
The heart of the matter
While it may seem like a no-brainer that the match is happening due to the amount of time WWE has put into John Cena speaking about it on television, The Undertaker's absence this week led to confusion among the WWE Universe as to whether the match would go ahead.
Well, WWE is advertising the event on posters and in programmes in a very unique and peculiar way in New Orleans, particularly with one event being front and center on a huge print.
Now, it may be hard to see the small print on that poster, but PW Insider posted that a fan, Ed, sent in a shot of the official programme where there's a page designated to the match...
What's next?
Well, we'll see what happens at WrestleMania on Sunday.
While WWE is still neglecting to confirm that the match will take place, this is a smart move to keep some mystery around the match. WWE really can't believably confirm the match as "Undertaker hasn't accepted the challenge" on television, so this is a pretty clever way to do it - but in this case, addressing it in any way is pretty much confirmation that it will happen.
Author's take
While it's odd that WWE haven't confirmed the match before WrestleMania, with the card already stacked, I think this is pretty genius. Now, when The Undertaker does come out, he'll get a HUGE pop and the match will feel like a bonus on top of what's already shaping up to be an incredible WrestleMania.
It'll be interesting to see how we get there. I've discussed how I think it happens here.
