WWE News: WWE provide update on Jeff Hardy's injury

At least Jef
At least Jeff Hardy seems to be in good spirits

What's the story?

Jeff Hardy recently needed surgery to repair an injured shoulder and then it turned out he needed a second one. This was not good news for Hardy but he had to have the procedures, and now he is faced with a painful rehab experience to prepare for his WWE return.

It will be an excruciating adventure but Jeff Hardy is willing to undergo the pain for the reward of getting back to doing what he loves. WWE.com has released several pictures from his early days in physical rehab to give fans an idea of what his days will be like until his comeback.

In case you didn't know...

For twenty-five years now, Jeff Hardy has excited fans all over the world alongside or opposite his brother Matt. After spending some more time in Impact Wrestling, The Hardy Boyz returned to WWE at WrestleMania 33. It was a very successful return as they captured the Raw Tag Team Championships during their first day at work.

Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jeff Hardy actually injured his shoulder a Great Balls Of Fire but carried on until the pain was too much. He got the surgeries and hopefully, they'll do the trick because he is much better utilised in the ring rather than on the sidelines.

The heart of the matter

WWE released an update on Jeff Hardy and said the following in their statement:

Following a successful surgery to repair a torn right rotator cuff that he sustained during the Six-Pack Challenge on the Sept. 18 edition of Raw, Jeff Hardy begins the long road back to active competition.

You can see by these pictures below how hard Jeff Hardy is working to get ring ready. It might not look like much, but even the most simple motions can be used to assist in recovery.

Everything from pressing against a doorway to basic stretching contributes to every little step toward a clean bill of health. After all, Jeff Hardy's shoulder just went through a pretty stressful ordeal.

What's next?

Jeff Hardy might be getting closer to the end of his career. He's done a lot of damage to his body but the 40-year-old Hardy can still go in the ring, and although he's not the same "Charismatic Enigma" he once was, he still has a lot to offer in the ring.

Although this injury will likely keep him out of action until after WrestleMania 34, there is still a slim shot he'll make a surprise appearance at the "Show Of Shows".

Author's take

Injuries are never planned and Jeff Hardy really tried to work through his shoulder pain. But after awhile, everyone has their breaking point. You can't fault Hardy for being human and getting the surgeries he needed.

It's awful if his absence stifles an evolution in Matt Hardy's character. Then again maybe this could be exactly what Matt needs to become fully 'WOKEN'? Only time will tell, but it's good to see Jeff Hardy's working hard on an eventual return.
