What's the story?

WWE presents the first ever Women's Royal Rumble in less than three weeks time and it seems that the company are ensuring that the match is stacked with some of the biggest female legends of all time, as it is being reported now that the company have reached out to former Women's Champion Michelle McCool regarding an appearance in the historic Rumble match.

PWInsider also reported that Molly Holly is a lock for the Women's Royal Rumble.

In case you didn't know...

There are already a number of women who have already announced that they are set to be part of the match on January 28th, but it seems that Paige's current status for the event is up in the air because of injury whilst there are still a number of slots left to fill in the match that is thought to be reserved or legends and NXT call-ups.

Michelle McCool would be the kind of legend that WWE is looking for if they can find a way of talking the wife of The Undertaker into making a return to the company for the first time in more then seven years.

Michelle retired from the company back in 2011, just a year before she gave birth to her first child, a daughter called Faith whom she has spent the past few years raising. Of course, Michelle made headlines late last year when she teased that she wanted a match with current SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte, so it seems that WWE won't have much of a hard job convincing her to return for a one-off appearance.

The heart of the matter

According to PWInsider, Michelle McCool has been approached by WWE about a return to the ring for the first time since she lost a Loser Leaves WWE match against her former best friend Layla back at Extreme Rules in 2011.

Michelle McCool was always a popular female wrestler and as a former Women's and Divas Champion, she would definitely qualify as a legend to be added to the historic first ever Women's Royal Rumble match.

Molly Holly has been rumoured for a Hall Of Fame induction this year and it will come as no surprise to see her make her appearance in the Rumble this year. As mentioned, PWInsider has reported that Molly Holly seems to be a lock for the Rumble.

What's next?

The Undertaker is set to appear at the 25th Anniversary of Raw in a few weeks time and his wife could come along for the ride since she was once on the Raw roster as well. Michelle may not make an appearance on WWE TV until The Royal Rumble since it seems that WWE is attempting to keep many of the women under wraps ahead of the event which takes place on January 28th.

Authors take

Michelle McCool was always a talented heel and even though she has spent the past few years as a wife and mother, she has remained in incredible shape and could easily make a return if WWE offers her the opportunity. It would be great to see a few female legends return since the WWE Universe has become accustomed to seeing a number of male legends return at this time of year.
