WWE News: WWE employee released after stints in NXT and SmackDown
According to PWInsider, WWE have chosen to end their relationship with announcer Rich Brennan, who juggled various assignments for the franchise before having his role reduced due to the appointment of other announcers – reports wrestlinginc.com.
Brennan, whose real name is Rich Bocchini, was the lead commentator for WWE development side NXT before being assigned as the lead commentator for SmackDown by WWE, only to lose his spot earlier this year to Mauro Ranallo.
Rich had been given the role of a backstage interviewer by the company and most recently interviewed Becky Lynch this Monday, but has now been deemed as a surplus requirement by WWE.
The commentator, who hails from Texas, had prior broadcasting experience and was brought into the WWE fold through Booker T's Reality of Wrestling promotion. Rich took no time to rise from the lead commentator of NXT to the much bigger SmackDown brand.
However, fellow presenters in the form of Renee Young, Kyle Edwards and Cathy Kelley gave Brennan some serious competition and have also played a role in his departure from WWE.
Brennan took to social networking site Twitter to thank the franchise and their fans and hinted that he was scouting for his next assignment.
Thank you. Come again. #NewAdventures
