In case you didn’t know…
The WWE recently announced a unique concept known as the MMC (Mixed Match Challenge), in partnership with Facebook.
Given that the WWE is scouting the best deal with the world’s leading networks, due in 2019, the promotion is looking to expand its repertoire in digital streaming services as well; attracting media giants such as Facebook and Amazon as takers for WWE programming.
The heart of the matter
The WWE had previously announced the MMC tournament to air on Facebook Watch from January 16th onwards.
Keeping in line with the schedule, WWE will now commence the MMC tournament with a match between Finn Balor & Sasha Banks on the one hand and Shinsuke Nakamura & Natalya on the other. The match will air after tomorrow’s SmackDown Live episode (January 16th, 2018) goes off the air—The MMC action begins at 10 ET/7 PT on Facebook Watch.
Furthermore, WWE has confirmed that the winners of the aforementioned match will advance to the tournament’s second round and compete against the winners of next week’s MMC match (The Miz & Asuka vs. Big E & Carmella).
What’s next?
Finn Balor is presently involved in a storyline wherein he’s formed a stable with former Bullet Club stable-mates Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson. On the other hand, Sasha Banks competes as a mid-card Superstar in the RAW Women’s Division.

Author’s take
Well, I’ve got to go with the team of Finn Balor & Sasha Banks, given my fandom for the former WWE Universal Champion.
Irrespective of who wins the MMC, the tournament is a great concept by the WWE in the ever-evolving landscape of sports-entertainment. Which team would you like to win? Sound off in the comments!
