WWE News: Classic reunion to take place at the Royal Rumble
What's the story?
The Royal Rumble takes over Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona on January 27th and it appears that the company could have a few shocks and surprises up their sleeve ahead of the show.
In case you didn't know...
There are a number of names already announcing themselves for the annual Royal Rumble matches on a weekly basis, as well as some expected names to be called up from NXT, but there will also be a number of legends included in the match that will give fans some mark out moments.
Over the years a number of legends have sat behind the commentary desk for the Royal Rumble match and these names included Stephanie McMahon last year who made history by commentating on the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match.
The heart of the matter
Whilst it's not clear who will be on commentary team for the Women's Royal Rumble match in a few weeks time, but Jerry Lawler recently confirmed on his podcast that there will be a reunion between the classic commentary team that the WWE Universe will definitely recognise.
My contract is up every year on January 10. On the 8th, I hadn’t heard a word. I sent a text to Kevin Dunn and said, ‘My contract is up the day after tomorrow. I just want to know where we stood.’ The very next day, I got a new contract in the mail. Not only one year, but a two-year deal. With a raise!”
He continued thus:
The Royal Rumble is coming up. They sent me a text message and I am going to be calling the men’s Royal Rumble. Me, Michael Cole and JBL," he said via Ringsidenews.
What's next?
The Royal Rumble takes place on January 27th, but Lawler was featured this week on Raw, which could mean that he will continue to make appearances in the coming weeks.
