What's the story?

WWE superstar Apollo Crews was in action at the Preston City Wrestling’s Road to Glory show. The show, which was streamed on Powerbomb.tv, had an interesting showdown between Crews and current Impact Wrestling superstar Moose.

In case you did not know…

Apollo Crews started his wrestling career back in 2009 and was a mainstay in the independent scene for more than five years before signing terms with the WWE. Having wrestled on various prromotions including Dragon Gate, Great Championship Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Alliance among others, he was also previously a heavyweight champion in PCW too.

Moose - real name Quinn Ojinnaka - switched to professional wrestling after a lengthy stint as an NFL player. He began with Ring of Honor initially back in 2014, having started training full-time two years earlier, and moved to Impact Wrestling in the summer of 2016.

The heart of the matter

Apollo Crews and Moose locked horns at the PCW Road to Glory yesterday. Crews defeated Iestyn Rees in the first round of the tournament while Moose was victorious over Sheik El Sham. This set up a semi-final WWE vs. Impact Wrestling match featuring the pair.

It was Crews that came out on top in the end after he managed to pin Moose with a standing shooting star press. Crews, however, would go on to lose his next match against Dean Allmark. Allmark countered a Blue Thunder Driver with a roll-up pin for the victory.

What's next?

The win in the Road to Glory Tournament has earned Dean Allmark a shot at the PCW Heavyweight Championship. The title itself is currently held by T-Bone, who was also booked for the Road for Glory show as part of the Tag Team Tournament.

Author's take

WWE allowing their wrestlers to cross over and appear on independent shows is a great gesture. But at the same time, it's a bit confusing as the exact nature of the deal that WWE has with PCW is not publicly known. Nevertheless, a WWE vs. Impact Wrestling match is always going to create a buzz for supporters, this once again showing us just how small the wrestling world is.
