WWE News: WWE superstars pick their Survivor Series dream team
What’s the story?
Prior to WWE hosting their annual Survivor Series event this Sunday in Houston, nine WWE superstars were interviewed by WWE.com and were asked to reveal their Survivor Series dream team.
The WWE superstars were given the option to recruit four superstars from the past or the present and had the task of assembling their dream line-up for Survivor Series.
In case you didn’t know...
WWE is all set to host their 30th annual Survivor Series show, later this week in Dallas, Texas and Vince McMahon and his creative team have lined up one of the most appealing match cards in Survivor Series history.
The match card for this Sunday will feature several champion vs. champion matches and also will witness two mega Survivor Series traditional tag team matches between Team Raw and Team Smackdown Live.
Legendary superstars such as Kurt Angle, Triple H, Shane McMahon, John Cena and many others are all scheduled to wrestle at Survivor Series.
Other than that, we will also get to witness WWE’s best female stars in Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and others. Current WWE Champion AJ Styles will also collide with the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, in a dream match come true.
The heart of the matter
Earlier this week, WWE interviewed nine different superstars from both brands of Raw and Smackdown. The WWE.com interview, featured Braun Strowman, Baron Corbin, Finn Balor, Chad Gable, Jason Jordan, Shelton Benjamin, Nia Jax, Jinder Mahal and Matt Hardy.
Team Braun Strowman:
Despite not having any allies on-screen, Braun Strowman decided to choose four former World Champions as part of his Survivor Series dream team.
“The Monster among Men” stated that he would like to team up with his long-term rival Roman Reigns who he believes will give his all inside the ring in order to win. The second pick on his team was The Big Show—with whom he had a series of matches earlier this year, the legendary Undertaker got the third spot due on The Monster’s team, and the final spot went to Strowman’s former Wyatt Family stablemate Bray Wyatt.
Team Jinder Mahal:
Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal went for the size advantage for his team as he picked the legendary Yokozuna, Giant Gonzales, and Kamala to fight alongside him. Mahal’s final pick was another former World Champion, The Iron Sheik.
Team Nia Jax
Nia Jax’s first two picks were two legendary WWE superstars, Andre the Giant and her real-life cousin The Rock. Jax said that it would be pretty cool for her to witness those two men wanting to help her during a match.
Nia would also include two-time former WWE Women’s Champion Bull Nakano and the current WWE Raw Women’s Champion and Nia’s best friend Alexa Bliss, who she thinks is bossy and likes to be in charge.
Team Finn Balor:
Finn Balor’s team comprises of four men with whom he had a lot of history with, and for his first pick, Balor recruited his TLC opponent AJ Styles and his Bullet Club predecessor—whom he defeated last month in a brutal match.
The former Universal Champion then added former Raw Tag Team Champions Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows— with whom he has a strong relationship with due to his previous association with them in the Bullet Club. Balor’ final pick went to “The King of Kings” Triple H; Finn Balor claimed that Triple H is an inspiration to him and he has learned a lot from the former 14 time World Champion, during his [Balor’s] NXT days.
Team Shelton Benjamin
For Shelton Benjamin’s team, he decided to pick his former OVW Tag Team partner and current Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, a man with whom Benjamin has a lot of history with. Benjamin’ second pick was also another close friend of his, in the form of his former tag team partner Charlie Hass, with whom he won the WWE Tag Team Titles with.
“The Gold Standard” picked “The Phenomenal One” as his third tag team partner and his final pick was 13 time World Champion Randy Orton—who is also one of the most successful Survivor Series team players of all time.
