WWE News: WWE Superstars to appear on TBS rap battle show
What's the story?
Squared Circle Sirens is reporting on a television appearance that a few WWE Superstars will make soon. Four women within the WWE will take on four actors from the Netflix GLOW series in the rap battle series Drop The Mic on TBS.
In case you didn't know...
GLOW stands for the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling that was founded in 1986 and still is in operation today. The original premise was to help actresses, models, and dancers get into show business.
The heart of the matter
Drop The Mic is a comedy competition series on the cable channel TBS created by James Corden of The Late Late Show based on a recurring segment from his talk show. Take a look at an example of a rap battle from the show below:
According to Squared Circle Sirens, the WWE team will be made up of Nikki and Brie Bella, Carmella, and Alicia Fox. They will take on the GLOW cast of Kate Nash, Jackie Tohn, Sunita Mani, and Brittney Young.
The GLOW series on Netflix debuted onĀ 23 June 2017 and has received critical acclaim including four Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.
At the time of this writing, there was not a confirmed air date for this episode.
What's next?
Next up for the women of the WWE is WrestleMania on 8 April in New Orleans, Louisiana. Fox is still currently recovering from her injury, and it is possible that Nikki and Brie could be in the just announced Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal. Carmella could be in the battle royal, and she still holds that Money In The Bank briefcase as well.
Author's take
On the business side, it's great for the WWE to appear in shows like this as it helps to expand the brand and potentially get new fans to tune in.
On the entertainment side, I can't wait to see this. Drop The Mic has always been a highly entertaining show, as long as it is celebrities I'm familiar with, so seeing these WWE women talking smack to their GLOW actress counterparts will be fun to see.
