WWE News: WWE takes a detailed look at Roman Reigns' promo against Brock Lesnar
What’s the story?
The WWE has put forth an intriguing presentation on its official website; looking back at Roman Reigns’ scathing promo against Brock Lesnar on the latest episode of RAW.
Accordingly, the WWE has listed five of Reigns’ insults against Lesnar and examined whether the insults are backed by facts.
In case you didn’t know…
On the 26 February 2018 episode of Monday Night RAW, Roman Reigns cut, what many believed to be a shoot promo, against Brock Lesnar—criticizing the latter for not showing up for their advertised face-off ahead of their all-important clash at WrestleMania.
Reigns referred to Lesnar as an entitled person, pointed out that the Beast whiled away time with the UFC brass and missed RAW; as well as disrespecting everyone in the WWE Universe right from the Superstars to the fans.
Additionally, Reigns also accused Lesnar of only showing up when he wants to; when the money’s right or the city’s right. Besides, Reigns signed off by asserting that he has no respect for Lesnar, and he damn sure doesn’t fear him.
The heart of the matter
On Roman Reigns’ first insult of Lesnar being entitled, the WWE explained that the Beast Incarnate and his ‘Advocate’ Paul Heyman take a modern, business-oriented approach to sports-entertainment rather than focusing on honouring the age-old traditions of the game. WWE added that Lesnar’s accomplishments enable him to avail a top-notch contract.
Secondly, the WWE noted that as regards Reigns’ UFC insult, it’s true that Lesnar likes to take up rival promoters on their offers, and if Reigns loses to him at WrestleMania this insult may seem like sour grapes, but if Reigns beats Lesnar and the Beast walks away from WWE again, The Big Dog’s prophecy may hold true.
Furthermore, on Reigns’ insult that Lesnar doesn’t respect anybody, the WWE noted that Lesnar does at times acknowledge ‘Suplex City’ chants from the WWE Universe, hence, although Reigns’ point may be invalid, The Big Dog is likely to get the fans behind him as an advantage on Lesnar since the latter possesses a huge physical advantage over Reigns.
On the point of Reigns insinuating that Lesnar is picky about when and where he performs, the WWE explained that although he doesn’t perform about 300 days a year like Reigns, Lesnar has become a semi-regular attraction on the WWE live event scene, wrestling in cities such as Buffalo, New York and Tampa, Florida.
What’s next?
Roman Reigns faces Brock Lesnar for the latter’s WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 34, which takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on 8 April.
Author’s take
Intriguingly, experts believe that Roman Reigns will indeed go over Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 34.
While the WWE’s take on Lesnar potentially walking away from the WWE if he loses to Reigns is interesting, it is a realistic possibility as the former UFC Heavyweight Champion has teased returning to the sport of MMA this year.
