WWE News: WWE teases Ricochet's first feud in NXT
What’s the story?
Following the recent signing Trevor Mann aka Ricochet, WWE has already seemed to tease Ricochet’s first feud in NXT after they posted a video from the WWE Performance Center where the NXT superstars were seen performing a “Hercules inspired upper-body workout”.
In case you didn’t know…
Last week, WWE announced the signings of three of the top Indy wrestling stars in the form of War Machine, Candice LeRae, and former New Japan Pro Wrestling star Ricochet. Being a former Lucha Underground Champion Ricochet has had the experience of working for various top wrestling promotions from all around the world where he has captured numerous championships on many different occasions.
The Paducah native also has many accolades to his name and is also the first-ever wrestler to win the PWG Battle of Los Angeles tournament on two different occasions. Ricochet, who reported to the WWE Performance Center last week, is also the second ever American star to win NJPW’s Best of Super Juniors tournament.
The heart of the matter
Earlier this week, NXT’s official Twitter handle posted a workout video from the WWE Performance Center that gave us a brief look at the training provision of the WWE PC. In the clip, the NXT superstars were seen performing a heavy workout routine and being under the guidance of Sean Hayes, who is the strength and conditioning coach at the Performance Center.
NXT’s latest signing Ricochet, who was seen implementing a set of chin-ups with weighted chains wrapped around him in the video, later took it to Twitter and joked that he had to show Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins (collectively known as The Street Profits) on how it’s done in the weight room. WWE has also released an official statement regarding Ricochet's interaction with Street Profits, an excerpt of the same can be read below:
Trevor Mann has been at the WWE Performance Center for less than a week, but the acclaimed new recruit appears to already be locked in competition with his fellow athletes in Orlando, Fla. — at least in the weight room. Following the sweat session, Mann — who's seen in the video doing a set of chin-ups with weighted chains wrapped around him — couldn't help but take a playful (we think) jab at The Street Profits, suggesting he showed Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins "how it's done."
What’s next?
Ricochet’s tweet could possibly be an indication that his first feud in NXT could be the duo of Dawkins and Ford, that is, the Street Profits, however, nothing has been confirmed as of right now and we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for the former IWGP Junior Tag Team Champion.
Author’s Take
Ricochet name-dropping Apollo Crews in his tweet could possibly mean that the NXT Universe might get to witness the return of Apollo Crews to NXT in the near future, and team up with his close friend Ricochet in order to battle The Street Profits.
