What's the story?

On Wednesday evening, Xavier Woods from The New Day teamed up with YouTube personality Chris Denker for Denker's annual fundraiser to play video games and raise money for children in need during Christmas time. The live gaming stream aired on Twitch, and they raised over $10K!

In case you didn't know...

Xavier Woods is a big time gamer and runs his own YouTube channel called Up Up Down Down. To date, Woods has over 1.3 million subscribers on his channel that started in June of 2015.

His channel has content almost daily, and usually feature some WWE Superstars. Every year, he holds a single elimination tournament for the American football game Madden; which Seth Rollins has dominated in over the past three years.

The heart of the matter

Throughout the stream, that went for about nine hours, Denker, Woods, and some of their friends played games like NBA 2K18, WWE 2K18, Mario Kart, and Fortnite. An archive of the stream can be found on this link.

Overall, the 5th Annual Holiday Charity Stream brought in a total of $11,590 (at the time of this writing). The proceeds will go to purchasing toys for children who are in shelters and orphanages around the area of California.

If you wish to donate, you still can through their Go Fund Me page. You can access the fundraiser through this link.

What's next?

The time for fun and games are over for Xavier Woods as he and The New Day have an opportunity at the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships this Sunday when Clash of Champions takes place in Boston, Massachusetts. The New Day will take on Aiden English & Rusev, Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable, and the champions The Usos.

Author's take

It's great to see this event by Denker get bigger and bigger each year. Not only did they entertain their fans for nine hours of gaming and shenanigans, they received over 250 donations. While they fell short of their goal of $15K, there is still time for them to reach that as the Go Fund Me is still active.
