Xavier Woods appears to be defiant in the face of defeat

What’s the story?

Xavier Woods has taken to social media to give fans a glimpse of the consequences that he was faced with after his gruelling Hell In A Cell match.

On that note, Woods showed off the gruesome welts all over his back, courtesy a kendo stick assault from the Usos.

Getting strung up with handcuffs and beaten with Kendo sticks sucks. Losing sucks. Get up, train harder, get it back. #HIAC

In case you didn’t know…

The New Day, with Big E and Xavier Woods competing in the matchup and Kofi Kingston outside the cage, defended their SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Jimmy and Jey Uso.

The Usos proceeded to handcuff Woods, double-team Big E and take the latter out of the equation, following which Xavier was subjected to a hellacious assault at the hands of the Usos.

The heart of the matter

The New Day lost their Tag Team titles to the Usos and the brunt of Jimmy and Jey’s ire was seemingly borne by Xavier Woods, who found himself at the receiving end of an endless barrage of kendo stick shots while handcuffed.

Nevertheless, Woods seems to be taking the defeat in his stride, showing off his battle wounds and resilience.

What’s next?

Fans can expect the New Day to continue their long-running feud with the Usos in the days to come on SmackDown Live.

Author’s take

Firstly, I would like to show my appreciation and respect for both the New Day and the Usos for putting on what, I feel, is one of the best Tag Team matches in recent memory.

Besides, an honest question to all fans who watched this match: How fearsome was the thudding of those kendo stick strikes? Here’s hoping both teams go on and continue to make history with their magical rivalry on the blue brand.
