WWE News: Zack Ryder vows to help old friend win again

Will The Revival fall to the reunited Edgeheads?

What's the story?

Zack Ryder joined his former tag team partner, Curt Hawkins, in his losing efforts on Monday Night Raw, but the former United States Champion isn't giving up on his friend.

Ryder vowed to help Hawkins finally win a match for the first time since his return to WWE three years ago.

In case you didn't know

Hawkins & Ryder reunited last week on Raw when Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson of The Revival attacked Hawkins.

The team was hyped up for a match on this week's episode and wrestled The Revival in a much more competitive match than some of Hawkins' other performances, but were unable to secure the victory.

The heart of the matter

Ryder & Hawkins were interviewed backstage and Ryder was questioned about whether he wanted to associate with Hawkins despite his continued losing streak, which lead to Hawkins walking away.

Ryder responded by talking about meeting Hawkins when he was 18 and how they went from learning in the same wrestling school to being tag champions in WWE. The interview ended with Ryder vowing to win the tag team titles alongside Hawkins.

Hawkins & Ryder started their tag team tandem in 2004 when they wrestled for New York Wrestling Connection.

They were eventually signed by WWE through Deep South Wrestling, the company's old developmental system. They also wrestled for Ohio Valley Wrestling before getting called up to compete on ECW as The Major Bros.

Eventually, their tag team was associated with WWE Hall of Famer Edge and the duo played a key role in his feuds with Batista, The Undertaker and other SmackDown superstars.

Hawkins' losing streak began when he returned to WWE in 2016. He continued to wrestle some big stars in the company but continued losing until he reached more than 200 losses.

What's next?

The tag team division on Raw has been weak for a while now, so making more teams and giving them character development and more screen time can only be a good thing.
