WWE: Night of Champions Predictions
With the Night of Champions PPV upon us, there is a lot of buzz among the WWE Universe. The United States and the Intercontinental championships aren’t being defended at a PPV which is supposed to see all the titles being contested. The lead up to the PPV has been good for some feuds, while the others have been lackluster. Another puzzling fact is that only five matches have been announced on the main card. One can only assume that WWE wants to give a lot of time to the important bouts, and can also feature the debut or return of certain superstars who can play pivotal role in the main feuds going forward.
In this article, I predict the outcomes of all the matches on the card, along with what might happen during the bouts. The best thing about all the matches is that none can be correctly predicted (Although odds are some might get it right due to pure luck). Although we can predict the winner of certain bouts, the how or why isn’t as obvious. Anyway, without further ado, let us now look at the matches featured on the card and their possible outcomes.
The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O’Neil) vs. Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay and Tensai) vs. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) vs. 3MB (any pairing of Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, or Jinder Mahal) vs. The Real Americans (Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro with Zeb Colter) for the number one contender spot for the WWE Tag Team championships
To kick things off, the pre-show match will pit five teams in a tag team turmoil. The rules of the match are simple; it’s an elimination tag match where two teams start, and when one member of a team gets eliminated, the team gets eliminated as a whole. Then another member of a different team comes in and the bout continues till there is only one team left.
I’m surprised the Los Metadores haven’t been introduced yet, but they might make their debut on the night after the PPV. With the recent push the Prime Time Players have been getting, I wouldn’t be surprised if they win the bout and face The Shield later in the night. So my pick for the pre-show match are the Prime Time Players.
Winner (s): Prime Time Players
The Shield (Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns with Dean Ambrose) vs Tag Team Turmoil winners for the WWE Tag Team championships
The Shield will face the winners of the tag team turmoil for the WWE Tag Team championships, but I don’t see Seth and Roman losing the titles any time soon. All the good work will be undone if Shield loses its momentum now, and I believe there is a lot in store for the trio going forward.
Also, with Dean Ambrose not having a match on the card, he will likely accompany the other two, and will play a role in The Shield retaining the titles. Although there can be a DQ finish, I hope WWE goes ahead with a pinfall victory for The Shield.
Winner (s) and still WWE Tag Team champions: The Shield
AJ Lee vs. Natalya vs. Brie Bella vs. Naomi in a Fatal Fourway for the WWE Divas championship
AJ Lee angered quite a few divas backstage, and come Night of Champions, she will be left alone in the ring to fend for herself, while the other three divas would look to take away the WWE Divas title from her. With the rumours circulating that AJ is scheduled to lose the title and appear on the Total Divas show from next season, it invariably comes down to “whom”, but not “if”.
I want Natalya to win the belt, but with the Bellas being the center of attention in the WWE, one has to believe that Brie Bella will win the match and the Divas title. Although I hate to even think about it, I guess I can go back to ignoring the divas division once again.
Winner and the new WWE Divas champion: Brie Bella
