What's the story?

While he is on course to challenge for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, Finn Balor has definitely been keeping an eye on New Japan Pro Wrestling, who just crowned their brand new IWGP Heavyweight Champion in Jay White.

In case you didn't know...

Former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor established himself as one of the most successful Junior Heavyweights of all time during his tenure with New Japan Pro Wrestling and The Bullet Club.

Being the originator of The Bullet Club, Balor worked in New Japan alongside the likes of Karl Anderson, Tama Tonga, Bad Luck Fale, and Luke Gallows before eventually announcing his departure from NJPW.

Following Balor's departure from Japan, his current WWE colleague AJ Styles took over the leadership reigns in The BC before being kicked out of the group by new leader Kenny Omega, who was eventually replaced by Jay White.

The heart of the matter

'Switchblade' Jay White was first introduced to the New Japan Pro Wrestling management courtesy of Bullet Club OGs Finn Balor and Bad Luck Fale, and last night at the New Beginning in Osaka, the New Zealander shocked the world by winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

Not only did White's historic win over 'The Ace' Hiroshi Tanahashi come in as a huge shock to the entire Pro Wrestling Universe, but was also appreciated by many, including WWE superstar Finn Balor.

In appreciation to White winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, Balor tweeted out the following:

And by the looks of it, the tweet was also appreciated by BC OG Tama Tonga.

What's next?

Now that Jay White has finally won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, the 'Switchblade' is all set to defend his strap against this year's New Japan Cup winner at the upcoming NJPW/ROH co-produced Madison Square Garden show.

As far as Finn Balor is concerned, 'The Demon King' will be challenging both Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush in a Handicap Match for the Intercontinental Championship.
