WWE/NJPW News: Finn Balor praises NJPW's Will Ospreay
What’s the story?
In a recent exchange on Twitter earlier today, WWE Superstar Finn Balor, seemingly had some really kind words and high praises for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Will Ospreay.
In case you didn’t know…
Ever since making his NJPW debut in 2016, Will Ospreay has proved himself to be one of the best high flying wrestlers of this generation.
Currently being in possession of the prestigious IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship (a title belt that has been previously held by Finn Balor on three occasions), Ospreay has already made a huge name for himself in Japan over the course of these past two years.
'The Aerial Assassin' is also the first ever British Superstar to win the NJPW: Best of Super Juniors tournament and in addition, Ospreay is also the first ever Superstar from the UK to win the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship (let alone the fact that he is currently in his second reign).
The heart of the matter
It is somewhat safe to say that both Will Ospreay and Finn Balor have had similar journeys in the world of Professional Wrestling.
The two men first started out their careers’ on the Independent circuit, before eventually making it to NJPW where both Ospreay and Balor (then known as Prince Devitt) broke out as megastars in the Pro Wrestling world.
Finn Balor's last entrance with the Bullet Club at the Korakuen Hall:
Ospreay, earlier today on Twitter, noted that for him to be wrestling at the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan is certainly a very cool experience.
'The Aerial Assassin' recalled watching a match between Balor and his fellow WWE colleague Neville at the Korakuen Hall a few years ago, and eventually shared a small heart-touching narrative.
You can check out Ospreay's tweet below:
In return, Ospreay then got the attention of former WWE World Champion Finn Balor who claimed that the 24-year-old British Superstar has been paving his own way in the wrestling industry.
What’s next?
Will Ospreay is currently slated to defend his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Kushida at the on-going NJPW: Wrestling Dontaku tour, whereas, Finn Balor is still pretty eager to get his hands on the WWE Intercontinental Championship, after failing to capture the belt at WrestleMania 34.
Author’s Take
Will Ospreay is definitely one of the best high flying Superstars in today’s Pro Wrestling industry, who is capable of adapting to the various in-ring styles in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
I personally, agree with Finn Balor here and I do think that Ospreay has certainly been creating his own path towards greatness in this business.
