WWE/NJPW News: Kushida takes a shot at Enzo Amore for using the Baseball Punch on Raw
What’s the story?
Earlier today, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s top junior heavyweight Kushida took to Twitter to take a shot at current WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore, for using his Baseball Punch in a tag team match on Raw this week.
Kushida was clearly unimpressed with Amore using the move and mocked the two-time Cruiserweight Champion, via his official Twitter account.
In case you didn’t know…
Yujiro Kushida is one of the best junior heavyweights in the world today and is a former five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and also a former Ring of Honor TV Champion.
He is currently signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling and has been part of the company as a junior heavyweight since 2010. In his 11 year career, Kushida has worked for various promotions around the world such as the likes of CMLL, Smash Wrestling and AJPW.
The former Best of Super Juniors winner has also won championships all around the world and is a world-renowned cruiserweight/junior heavyweight.
The heart of the matter
On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore was part of a 10-man tag team match against Kalisto’s Team Lucha Lucha. Amore led his team -- the Zo train -- that comprised of Drew Gulak, Tony Nese, Noam Dar and Ariya Davari.
During the match, Enzo was once again used the Baseball Punch on Kalisto, which he previously used at the recent TLC pay-per-view as well. The Baseball Punch, till date remains one of Kushida’s top in-ring moves which he has been using in big matches in NJPW.
Kushida’s tweet clearly suggested that he wasn’t impressed with Enzo stealing his move and mocked him in the process.
What’s next?
Enzo Amore recently became a two-time Cruiserweight Champion and continues to be a part of the WWE Cruiserweight division. The two time CW Champion, however, is yet to react to Kushida’s tweet and reply to the Japanese star.
Kushida, on the other hand, is currently working with NJPW and is one of the top stars in the Junior Heavyweight division in Japan’s elite promotion.
He was recently part of the Super J Tag Team Tournament in NJPW but was eliminated in the first round when his team lost to Roppongi 3K in the very first round on 23rd October.
Author’s Take
Personally, I wasn’t impressed with Amore using Kushida’s Baseball Punch but I believe it is going to help him attract more heel heat towards himself and is going to help him develop his character on 205 Live.
