Ohno vs. Sullivan is now official for NXT TakeOver: WarGames

What's the story?

Another big singles match has been added to the NXT TakeOver: WarGames card. Lars Sullivan will look to continue his path of destruction at the event, although Kassius Ohno may prove a stiffer opponent than anyone Lars has faced so far.

In case you didn't know...

Lars Sullivan is unlike anything else on the WWE roster right now. The 300lb monster has a truly unique look and presence, and has recently been making the most of it by decimating all who stand up to him on NXT. Sullivan has barely been taken off his feet at this point, let alone come close to defeat.

Kassius Ohno returned to NXT with great fanfare earlier in 2017, but the arrivals of Drew McIntyre, Adam Cole and others somewhat overshadowed him.

The former Chris Hero has been a fringe character for the most part, although he has had excellent matches consistently throughout the year.

The heart of the matter

With Sullivan's path of destruction looking ever clearer, The Knockout Artist has taken it upon himself to challenge the beast. Ohno approached NXT General Manager William Regal on last night's episode to request the match, and the GM was more than happy to oblige.

Ohno isn't taking on the match simply to stop Sullivan however, as the former PWG World Champion has huge aspirations of his own. The NXT Championship has been his goal for years and 2017 has seen him come closer than ever - Ohno wants to prove to Regal that his name is worthy of being included in the discussion.

William Regal is as much a fan of seeing brutes collide as anyone else, and the Englishman will surely be a keen viewer next Saturday in Houston. Kassius Ohno vs. Lars Sullivan is officially on.

What's next?

NXT TakeOver: WarGames takes place on November 18 in Houston, Texas. The show will be headlined by the eponymous double-ring cage match, with SAnitY, The Undisputed ERA and the unlikely trio of The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong scheduled to do battle.

A new NXT Women's Champion will be crowned as Kairi Sane, Peyton Royce, Ember Moon and Nikki Cross do battle for the vacant title. Drew McIntyre defends the NXT Championship against Andrade 'Cien' Almas, Aleister Black and The Velveteen Dream go one-on-one, and Johnny Gargano and Shawn Michaels will compete in an 'ab' contest.

Whatever that is.

Author's take

NXT TakeOver: WarGames is shaping up to be yet another classic event in the history of the series.

While the curiosity of WarGames may overshadow the rest of the card, there is plenty to get excited about here. Ohno vs. Sullivan should be a roaringly fun battle of the bruisers, with Sullivan likely to come out on top.
