WWE NXT News: Shawn Michaels to return for one night only
Drew McIntyre defied the odds, after being released from the company during his initial run, and made a comeback to NXT, to pick up the top prize in the yellow brand. However, NXT's newest acquisition, Adam Cole may have a problem with NXT's top guy.
The two men go head to head for the NXT Championship at NXT Live in San Antonio, on Friday, November 17, only a day before NXT Takeover: WarGames. As exciting and huge as the match is, it is further enhanced by this announcement:
WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels will be the special guest referee for this contest. Hailing from San Antonio, the hometown hero will ensure that the match gets called down the middle, like it should be. After all, there are many parties who may affect the outcome of this particular match.
We wonder how it affects the layout of NXT Takeover: WarGames if a title change were to take place at the show. Would the title not be defended at Takeover? Would Cole enter WarGames as the face of NXT?
Adam Cole seemed confident ahead of his big clash and had this to say about the huge match, in an exclusive interview with WWE.com:
As far as Drew, he's an impressive athlete. Drew had been chasing that NXT Championship, and he finally achieved his dream. I almost feel bad for the guy. I feel bad that after all that hard work, all the sacrifice, it's going to be taken away by me. And there's not a damn thing he can do about it.
For those who may have forgotten, immediately after McIntyre became the NXT Champion, he was attacked by Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III on SummerSlam weekend.
