WWE NXT referee Jessika Carr to join SmackDown; Gives a heartfelt farewell speech

WWE's first-ever female referee Jessika Carr made her last appearance for the Black and Gold brand on tonight's episode of NXT. After the show went off the air, Tommaso Ciampa, who just got out of a grueling match with Finn Balor took a microphone and announced that it was Jessika's last night with NXT and after this, she will make her transition to SmackDown.

He then requested Jessika to enter the ring and give a proper farewell speech over the microphone. Jessika did as requested and went on to give an emotional speech about how she became a referee in the first place and how her trainer initially reprimanded her by saying that she was a bad referee and told her to quit the business.

Carr added that she was glad she didn't pay heed to his admonition and continued to do what she did and how it allowed her to be where she is right now. She closed her speech by thanking the team of "zebras", i.e. the referees at NXT, and added that she would be satisfied if she could inspire other women to pursue the career of their choice.

Jessika Carr made her debut on the all women's PPV event WWE Evolution in 2018. Since then, Carr has been a regular on WWE NXT and has often made sporadic appearances on WWE RAW and SmackDown. In her last appearance at tonight's NXT, she refereed the main event match between Tommaso Ciampa and Finn Balor.
