WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II - Results
The third NXT Takeover of the year, NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II took place at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York, the venue that will be hosting WWE SummerSlam tomorrow.
Brooklyn II saw Shinsuke Nakamura walk out as the new WWE NXT champion as he beat Samoa Joe with his deadly finisher, the Kinshasa. In the other title matches, NXT women’s champion Asuka beat Bayley to retain her championship while the NXT tag team champions ‘The Revival’ put on a great display as they retained their title against Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa.
The fans at the Barclays center were at their vocal best as they kept on cheering the Superstars irrespective of them being a face or a heel. Bobby Roode transformed the Takeover into a Glorious one with his first ever fight inside a WWE ring.
The much-anticipated debut of Ember Moon took place at the NXT special and she made a statement on her debut by defeating Billie Kay. This might also be the last time the former NXT women’s champion Bayley will be a part of NXT.
After her match against Asuka, an emotional Bayley went on to hug her fellow Horsewomen - Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, who were at the ringside for her match and went on to hug Izzy, pointed at the ‘NXT’ sign at the entrance before leaving to the backstage.
The tag team championship match stole the show as all the four men put on a great show in what could easily be one of the contenders for match of the night.
Here are the results from the NXT special:
- Austin Aries beat No Way Jose with the Last Chancery.
Aries continued to attack Jose after the match but was interrupted by Hideo Itami, who came to Jose’s rescue and delivered a Kenta combo followed by a Go To Sleep to Aries.
