WWE NXT Takeover 2: Live coverage and results - 11th September, 2014
Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to our live coverage of WWE NXT Takeover 2 show.
The show opened with the fans in Full Sail University chanting for NXT as Kalisto and Sin Cara made their way out first.
Kalisto and Sin Cara vs. The Ascension for the NXT Tag Team championships
Sin Cara started things off with Victor as Victor took Cara to the corner. Cara came back with a springboard elbow and caught Victor with a moonsault from the middle rope for a nearfall! Konnor distracted Sin Cara as Victor took advantage. Victor then tagged Konnor in, who worked over Cara on the outside, ramming him back first into the apron. Back in the ring, Konnor worked over Cara in the corner, stomping on him as Victor made his way back into the ring.
Victor came down with a leg drop for a nearfall. Victor worked on Cara and went for a powerbomb, but Cara dropped him with a hurricanrana. Konnor then made the tag and dropped Kalisto to the floor, as Cara went for the tag. Konnor drilled Cara from the back, but Cara came back with an enziguri and made the hot tag, as Kalisto came in with a huge kick and a springboard crossbody! Kalisto came in with high pace and dropped Victor for a nearfall. Kalisto dropped Victor with a head scissors take down and went for a crossbody on The Ascension on the outside, but wasn’t successful. Cara then came down with a huge crossbody on the outside!Cara then took out Konnor as Kalisto connected with Del Sol to pick up the victory!
Winners and the new NXT Tag Team champions: Kalisto and Sin Cara
Rating: ***
Analysis: That was an amazing way to kick off the show, and I honestly didn’t think the titles would change hands. With Kalisto joining the company, there was a chance of WWE putting on the gold on Kalisto, and I’m glad they took that chance. The Ascension can now debut on the main show, as they held the titles for more than 300 days!
TJ Parker vs. Baron Corbin
Corbin almost took Parker’s head off as he spiked his head to the mat to pick up the victory!
Winner: Baron Corbin
Rating: Dud
Analysis: That was unexpected. I don’t know what else to say.
Sylvester LeFort vs. Enzo in a Hair vs. Hair match
Both men locked up as LeFort had the upper hand. Enzo rolled LeFort up out of nowhere for the first nearfall of the match, as LeFort drilled Enzo with rights. Enzo took LeFort down, but LeFort hung Enzo over the top rope to get back into the match. More back and forth action as LeFort caught Enzo with a clothesline and a kick to the back. Enzo came back with lefts and rights, but was distracted leading to a huge clothesline for a nearfall! Enzo rolled LeFort up to pick up the victory!
Winner: Enzo
Rating: * ½
Analysis: That was a decent match, but was entertaining. Their characters will work perfectly on the main roster.
Post match, LeFort tried to escape but was taken down. Marcus made the save, but LeFort left his partner behind and ran to the back. Sawft then poured the bucket full of lotion on Marcus as he ran to the back.
The GM of NXT then made his way down to the ring. He talked about how NXT is the place to be for all the competitors. He called KENTA the biggest international signing in the history of WWE! He then introduced KENTA to the NXT fans. Regal then welcomed KENTA and gave him the microphone, as KENTA spoke about being in the WWE. He spoke in Japanese, and said it was a dream come true, and said he was happy to be in the WWE and on NXT. He said as a tribute to one of his heroes, he will be known as Hideo Itami, and said his goal is to be the NXT champion.
The Ascension interrupted KENTA and attacked him. Hideo came back and knocked both the men out of the ring.
Bull Dempsey vs. Mojo Rawley
Bull went right at it with Mojo and worked on him to start things off. Mojo took Bull to the corner and drilled him with shoulders, but Bull caught him with a huge body block and hit a headbutt from the top rope to pick up the victory!
Winner: Bull Dempsey
Rating: *
Post match, Bull hit another headbutt on Mojo.
Analysis: That was yet another short match, as WWE might be looking at giving the main event a decent amount of time.
Backstage, Enzo and Big Cass found LeFont and Marcus, and as LeFont escaped, the duo managed to bring Marcus to the ring with a towel on his head. It was revealed that his head was almost shaved. Marcus then escaped to the back embarrassed.
WWE aired a video package, hyping the match for the NXT women’s championship.
Bayley vs. Charlotte for the NXT women’s championship
Baylet took Charlotte to the corner and laid into her with shoulders! Charlotte turned the tables and connected with chops, but Bayley came down with a crossbody for a nearfall. Charlotte connected with an inverted neckbreaker to turn the tide, and started working on Bayley. Charlotte locked Bayley in the figure four head lock, but Bayley managed to get out of the hold as Charlotte dropkicked her. The crowd was firmly behind Bayley as she tried to fight her way back, but Charlotte stopped her in her tracks. Both women exchanged chops as Charlotte won the exchange. Charlotte went back to the head lock as she rolled Bayley around in the ring! More back and forth action as Bayley rolled Charlotte up for a nearfall, and Charlotte came back with yet another dropkick!
Charlotte drilled Bayley with a knee to the gut and rolled her up for a nearfall. Charlotte taunted Bayley, who came back with rights, but Charlotte dropped Bayley head first on the mat for a nearfall. Charlotte went for a moonsault, but Bayley stopped her in her tracks and dropped her with a huge hurricanrana from the top rope! The crowd started a “This is awesome” chant as Bayley covered the champion for a nearfall. Charlotte whiplashed Bayley’s head to the turnbuckle as Charlotte connected with the moonsault, but Bayley kicked out! Charlotte then connected with the Natural Selection to pick up the victory.
Winner and still the NXT women’s champion: Charlotte

Analysis: That was yet another amazing match between the two women. There is a reason why both of them are touted to be the future of the divas division in the company, as Charlotte continued to build momentum as a champion.
Post match, Sasha Banks attacked Bayley, but Charlotte made the save.
Tyler Breeze vs. Sami Zayn vs. Tyson Kidd vs. Adrian Neville for the NXT championship
All four men locked up as Zayn and Breeze battled each other while Tyson took on Neville. The action spilled to the outside as Tyson worked on Neville and Breeze worked on Zayn. Zayn and Neville turned things around as Sami decked Breeze with the phone and took a selfie! The crowd started a big “Ole” song as Adrian worked on Kidd. Back in the ring, Zayn locked Tyson in a clutch but Breeze made the save. Tyson and Breeze worked on Neville on the ramp and delivered a double suplex on the steel. They delivered yet another double suplex now on Zayn on the steel ramp!
Back in the ring, Tyson and Tyler worked on Sami, and kept Neville out of the equation. More double teaming with a back elbow, as Kidd dropped Breeze with a dropkick. Kidd covered Sami for a nearfall, and worked on Sami. Tyson kept Neville outside and laid into Sami Zayn. Tyson connected with a shining wizard and a huge legdrop from the top rope for a nearfall. Kidd then kicked Neville on the outside, and kept working on Zayn. Kidd managed to isolate Sami, but Zayn turned things around with a back elbow. Adrian returned to the ring as the duo worked on Kidd. Neville then came down with a huge moonsault on the outside, as Kidd and Neville stared each other down! The crowd started a big “Yes” chant as both men went at it!
Zayn covered Neville for a nearfall, as Kidd came in and threw Zayn out of the ring. Kidd then threw Zayn into Neville, resulting in Neville crashing to the floor, as Kidd planted Zayn for yet another nearfall! Kidd went for the Sharpshooter, but Sami fought out of it. Kidd connected with a huge kick, but Zayn fought out. Breeze connected with huge kicks to all the three men out of nowhere and covered them for nearfalls! The crowd started a “This is awesome” and “CM Punk” chant as all the four men were involved in an electric chair – double powerbomb from the top rope! The crowd started another “This is wrestling” chant as Zayn got to his feet. Neville connected with a shooting star on Zayn, but Breeze tried to take advantage of it for a nearfall! Tyson caught Breeze in the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring, but Neville and Zayn broke it up!
Zayn and Neville traded shots in the middle of the ring, but Zayn is dumped him outside. Zayn then connected with a T – Bone on Kidd and dumped Neville over the barrier. Zayn planted Breeze with a DDT on the outside and connected with a big boot on Kidd, but Neville connected with a superkick to Zayn on the outside and connected with the Red Arrow on Kidd in the ring to pick up the victory, and retain the NXT title.
Winner and still the NXT champion: Adrian Neville
Rating: **** ¾
Analysis: That was an amazing main event as expected, but rest assured it is easily a contender for the best match of the year. Zayn was so close to winning the match, but in the end, came up short as Neville once again found a way to retain the NXT champion.
Over – all rating of the show: **** (Out of 5 stars)
That was yet another outstanding NXT special, as KENTA was introduced to the NXT fans as Hideo Itami. Will Zayn now debut on the main show at least? We’ll have to wait and find out.
