Wrestling fans were all about All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Double or Nothing (DoN) last week. While many fans were against the new promotion, most loved what they saw in the first event of the new promotion.

This week, WWE had a chance to show the world how it is still the biggest and best wrestling promotion in the world. While the weekly shows Raw and SmackDown Live failed to do that for the company, it was NXT to the rescue once again.

NXT had their 25th TakeOver last night which showcased some incredible matches involving the most talented athletes.

From the NXT Women’s Championship involving Shayna Baszler and Io Shirai to the NXT North American Championship match where The Velveteen Dream defended his title against Tyler Breeze, not a minute of the show felt like it was badly done, and gave NXT another world-class event.

In this article, we will take a look at the 3 things which made TakeOver XXV absolutely incredible!

#3 The Opener

Most opening matches on a WWE event card are scheduled just to warm up the crowd before the big boys come out. However, this was no ordinary opening match as it was arguably the best match of the night until the main event.

Matt Riddle and Roderick Strong had one of the best matches of the year which showed immense amounts of physicality and intensity. The near-falls made the bout even better and kept us on the edge of our streets.

Since emerging onto the scene, Riddle has arguably become the best mixed martial artist turned wrestler there is in the business today.

Strong, on the other hand, has always been one of the best and showed exactly what he can do as a solo performer and is one of the faces of NXT.

The opening match was a hard-hitting explosive match that set the stage for the rest of the night, and a win for Riddle just made things a bit sweeter for the Bros in attendance.
