Paige on Vince's thoughts of her pipe bomb promo, the Divas Revolution getting stale
Paige infused a new life into the Divas Revolution after speaking her mind in what was a great promo on Monday Night RAW last week. The ‘Anti-Diva’ in an interview spoke about the Revolution, Vince’s reaction to her promo and also promoted the season finale of Total divas. Below are excerpts from the interview:
On the NXT Divas and the Divas Revolution
Paige is stoked about the development of the Divas Revolution and credits the talent involved and the ones that are being groomed for the future. “It’s absolutely wild. It has progressed in a short amount of time with my career,” says Paige.
She adds, “So it has been amazing. I’m so excited for the new generation of NXT with Bayley leading the way with Nia Jax, Carmella and all these chicks that are going to be absolutely amazing. Then you have Jessica McKay, who I was on the independents with for so many years. It’s just nice to see. It’s going to be absolutely awesome.”
Her pipe bomb and the reactions backstage
The talented Diva hits the spot by agreeing with the public opinion that the Revolution angle was getting stale and it was time to give it a kick of sorts saying, “I felt like the whole ‘Divas Revolution’ thing started to get stale. I thought it definitely needed a kick in the a** a little bit.”
“Vince [McMahon] and our writers were so cool with the promo. They definitely gave me the freedom to say what I wanted. I kept it as tame as possible. I wanted to go a little bit harder, but I thought, ‘Nah, I’ll save it.’ It was definitely an adrenaline rush,” says the 21-year-old.
By admitting she like being the bad guy that draws heat, Paige was surprised by the crowds reaction. “I don’t mind being hated. But the crowd was so receptive to it and great. They were cheering most of it. I was like, ‘No, that’s not the way it was supposed to be.’ It was great. I was very nervous before doing it. I just wanted to get out there and kick some butt and light a fire under the ‘Divas Revolution’ again, “ says the former Divas champion.
On the reason behind the promo
Citing the reason for the lack of storytelling and staleness in the entire Divas Revolution angle she was of the opinion that her pipe bomb or “Paige bomb” as she like to call it was the need of the hour.
“Where was this going? With the whole Charlotte and Nikki [Bella] story, it was similar to me and Nikki. People were complaining about that. I feel like that a ‘Pipe Bomb,’ or ‘Paige Bomb’ as I call it, is what was needed. Now a team has split up and everyone is going for everyone, which is great. I’m looking forward to seeing where everyone else goes,”
