WWE prepares for Bill DeMott lawsuits, why more talent haven't spoken out
According to the Wrestling Observer WWE are readying their lawyers for potential lawsuits over the Bill DeMott situation. DeMott has not really attempted to defend himself (which could lead to an admission of guilt) and WWE have made statements saying they “investigated” the claims, all of which is a sign that they’re seeking to protect themselves from any legal backlash.
It’s believed the reason why contracted talent have not been speaking out about the allegations is because they are in fear of their jobs. This is also the reason why those speaking out have tended to be wrestlers who have since left WWE, many of whom didn’t speak out at the time of the alleged incidents. After all making it to the top of WWE is a dream, so they’re more inclined to keep their heads down and ignore any misconduct while under contract. Those who were released have nothing to lose.
WWE reportedly gave DeMott a hefty severance package for stepping down.
