WWE RAW: 3 Reasons why Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman becoming RAW Tag Team Champions is good & 2 reasons why it isn’t
This week’s episode of RAW promised us a lot of goods and mostly delivered them. The show opened with Roman Reigns beating Dolph Ziggler – who seems to have become the new punching bag of the company – and then slowly worked towards developing major storylines for the Superstars.
Randy Orton once again joined forces with the Revival during the latter’s match against New Day. Orton, for the second time, RKO’d all three members of the New Day to establish himself as the strongest possible challenger to Kofi Kingston’s WWE Title.
Bray Wyatt’s Fiend also showed up and attacked Jerry Lawler while Sasha Banks refused to give any explanation for her attack on Natalya before brutalizing her even further.
The King of the Ring first-round matches also took place as Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander came out as winners, as expected. The highlight of the show, however, was Braun Strowman teaming up with Seth Rollins to take on Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson for the RAW Tag Team Titles.
By the end of the match, Rollins and Strowman were the new RAW Tag Team Champions and here are 3 reasons why it was a good move and 2 why it wasn’t…
#3 Why it is good: More limelight on the Tag Team Division
The Tag Team Division of WWE has always been looked upon as an afterthought. The fact that the company saw it fit to put the title on a 10-year-old kid, who was coincidently partnered by Braun Strowman, is a testament to the secondary status of the titles.
However, with the Universal Champion now holding the RAW Tag Team Title alongside his potential challenger for the very same title, it automatically puts more limelight and prestige to the Tag Titles.
This could be a way to put more weight on the RAW Tag Team Titles and Strowman and Rollins winning it now certainly puts the limelight on the division. Whether the company is going to capitalize on that, however, by putting over another Tag Team is another story entirely.
