WWE Raw is trying to push as much content in its episodes as possible recently as the build towards WrestleMania 35 continues.
With almost all matches from the flagship brand set, it seems like no further matches will be announced from the red brand.
Keeping that in mind, we are still seeing WWE desperately trying to dish out various segments and matches to further build on the matches which the fans already know are coming. While it is important to do so for the sake of the storyline, it is quite surprising the way they are doing it.
In this article, we will look at the 3 segments from this week’s Raw which should not have happened, or happened differently, on the Road to WrestleMania, and give the reasons why they didn’t make much sense.
#3 The Extraordinary Man’s Will to Overcome
Finn Balor has repeatedly been built as the underdog by the WWE simply because of his size, similar to what they did with Rey Mysterio a decade or so ago.
While Balor may not be the biggest wrestler, he is surely one of the most skilled and talented wrestlers in WWE and there has not been a single instance when fans have doubted his abilities.
Balor was once again booked in a handicap match against Bobby Lashley and his new partner Jinder Mahal. Booking Balor in handicap matches or under unfavorable stipulations has become WWE’s go-to move for the superstar.
Balor was once again able to overcome the odds in a needless match and segment to further build The Extraordinary Man as he pinned Mahal for the win.
This did nothing more than make Mahal look like an even weaker opponent, make Lashley look worse hiding behind other superstars and ending up on the losing side and make one wonder why Balor lost the Intercontinental Championship in the first place.
A number one contender’s match for the championship between Elias and Balor would have done a better job instead.
