WWE RAW (August 19, 2019): 5 Points to note
WWE has wrapped up their latest episode of Monday Night Raw and the show was very noteworthy, to say the least. WWE put on another solid show as we witnessed several surprises and a few interesting matches. The show kicked off with the franchise player Roman Reigns taking on Dolph Ziggler in a singles match.
Reigns is currently involved in a storyline where he was nearly eliminated for good, so his match with Ziggler wasn't necessary, as it did nothing to forward the storyline. These two put on a good match no doubt, but we could've seen Ziggler face any other competitor instead of Reigns.
The Man Becky Lynch cut a fire promo and The Legit Boss Sasha Banks continued her merciless assault on Natalya. The Fiend made an unexpected appearance and utilized the Mandible Claw on Jerry "The King" Lawler. The Viper Randy Orton, along with The Revival, dismantled The New Day and left Xavier Woods in ruins. In the main event of the night, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman defeated The OC to become the new Raw Tag Team Champions.
Plenty of things went down on the red brand and right here, right now, we will look at the five points worth noting for this week's episode of Raw.
#5 Sasha Banks' return came at the perfect time
After becoming a dual Women's Champion at WrestleMania 35 earlier this year, Becky Lynch's momentum started deteriorating as she didn't have enough credible contenders for her titles. After she lost her SmackDown Women's Championship to Charlotte Flair at Money in the Bank, The Man had a lengthy feud with a green Lacey Evans, who wasn't seen as a serious threat to Becky's title reign.
Then came SummerSlam, where Lynch defended her title against Natalya. Even though Nattie is a veteran and a former Women's Champion, she wasn't perceived as a threat either.
Then, on the fallout episode of Raw, The Boss Sasha Banks made her presence known. She returned as a babyface but shockingly turned heel after attacking an emotional Natayla and removing her wig to reveal her new glossy blue hair. Sasha is being booked better since her return and she is the only Superstar on the women's roster who's credible enough to challenge Lynch for her title.
If Sasha hadn't taken a break from WWE after 'Mania, Becky would've still not been able to have a worthy opponent and that would've affected her momentum. After all, she is the co-cover star of the WWE 2K20 video game.
