WWE Raw Most Improved Star of the Week: Big E Langston
Big. E. Langston seems to have moved beyond facing Dean Ambrose for the United States title. Before Dean Ambrose, it looked like he’ll be feuding with Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental championship. This week on Main Event Langston goes back to that feud with Axel as they’ll be involved in a match.
The latest episode of Raw saw Big. E. Langston and Randy Orton have a match. Usually the Raw Active polls look like they’ve been rigged. This week the raw Active Poll was set to determine who’ll face Randy Orton. The three potential opponents who were listed were Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and of course Big E Langston. Langston won by a landslide. Seventy Five percent!
Either the WWE is pushing Langston or he really has gotten everybody’s attention. I would choose the former as a more formidable option. But after the match it sure looks like Langston can hang on with the company’s top guys.
Before the match began and even before the Raw Active poll results were announced, Randy Orton came to the ring and gave a promo which was reminiscent of his heel promos during his first Intercontinental title reign way back in 2003-04. He talked about how all the women wanted him and how all the men fantasized about being like him. He just rattled on about the nobody having any power over him and that his next opponent can do nothing to stop him.
Langston started the match showcasing relentless force and aggression. On a few occasions he even flew outside the ring. Since his alliance with the authority, Orton has been involved in some of the most exciting matches on Raw. Cody Rhodes and Goldust had terrific matches with him. Christian, who in my opinion has the best in- ring chemistry with Orton, also had a spectacular match on Raw with Oron. And now Big E Langston sure got the fans talking and interested during his match with Orton.
If that isn’t an improvement, the what is?
Michael Cole put it perfectly, “If Randy Orton didn’t know Big E Langston’s name before, he surely knows now.
This match was one of the best matches of the night. Cena and the Rhodes Brothers teamed up to face Damien Sandow and the real Americans in one of the other spectacular matches of the night. Even though the match began on a slower pace, nobody looked weak and all of this culminated into a breathtaking finish. Cesaro’s collision with Colter was one of the most hilarious and effective collisions I’ve ever seen in recent times. The camera caught the moment impeccably.
Langston sure got the crowd behinf him as he was about to set Orton for The Big Ending. It was anyway expected that Orton won’t lose to Langston but the most important thing that came out of this match was that Langston surely can hold his own in the ring with such celebrated superstars.
