WWE RAW - Review: The main event steals the show

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are proving to be a very popular tag team

“This is awesome. This is awesome. I LOVE IT!!!”- JBL

Another episode of RAW signals another close step towards one of the four major PPV’s WWE has to offer. In two weeks WWE needs to build quite a few feuds to headline Survivor Series. This week, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, The Shield and The Wyatts stole the show as they squared off in the main event until a barrage of the babyface tag teams trail blazed into the ring to save the night for Punk and Bryan.

The main event was every bit entertaining as any main event should be. There were so many factors that stood out and that deserve to be paid heed to.

Firstly, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan have just become the most popular tag team in the WWE. Be it the crowd chanting tirelessly for CM Punk or going bonkers with the ‘Yes’ chants, Punk and Bryan sure have a lot of excitement surrounding their alliance which might run for some time. And this is good news for all those fanatics who emphasize on the ‘wrestling’ in professional wrestling.

Secondly, either WWE creative went all artistic suddenly or else Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan just went all out with their instincts during their face off. The build up to the face off was teased by Rollins when he started trash talking with the two towering powerhouses of the Wyatt Family. But it was after Dean Ambrose entered the frame of action, that the actual tension went up a few notches.

Seth Rollins tried to control his eccentric teammate and that just increased the intensity of the situation which made their collision even more awesome. Outside the ring, Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt got into a similar argument and when these two collided, the crescendo had been reached.

The three teams were now in the ring and the entire arena went berserk and they had the perfect reaction for it- “Yes. Yes. Yes.”. Just like Stone Cold’s ‘What’ went universal so are the ‘Yes’ Chants. They can be used in situations involving  other wrestlers.

I had been waiting for these two teams to finally collide and thinking about various situations where they could have. But all those situations involved wither one of the two teams turning babyface or anti- heroic. But I am glad that this happened without anyone blinking an eye on their heel-dom.

Though this episode had its own moments, nothing compares to the main event. Ziggler lost in a good match against Curtis Axel but this match brought nothing special out of Axel. Cena was involved in a good handicap match against the Real Americans. But Cena’s being SuperCena and we’ve got a divided jury for that.

Cena and Antonio Cesaro have now wrestled each other multiple times in these two weeks. Surely, they can have a singles match soon as both of them have showcased some spectacular in-ring chemistry recently. But the Real Americans are too good a team to be split up soon.

As far as tag team wrestling is concerned, WWE couldn’t be at a better place. With Punk-Bryan, Shield, Wyatts, Rhodes Brothers and the Usos, next week sure looks interesting to look forward to. This might very well turn out to be a traditional Survivor Series tag match.
