WWE Raw TV report from Austin, Texas: August 4, 2014

The Authority kicks off Raw

With just two weeks away from the biggest party of the summer, WWE was in Austin, Texas for the August 4 episode Monday Night Raw where several of the feuds were hyped and new matches were announced.

While the WWE universe awaited Roman Reigns’ reply to Orton’s challenge, Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella had a contract signing scheduled for making their match at SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Here are the highlights in Raw TV report.

Roman Reigns wins on the back of an injury, Ambrose sets the time for Rollins

Triple H put Roman Reigns in a Last Man Standing match against the Big Red Machine Kane which resulted in a Reigns win after Kane failed to get up within the count of 10. Reigns was hurt during the match as his head got busted open after Kane picked up the steel steps and rammed it on his face.

Earlier, Hunter also announced a beat the clock challenge between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins which would allow the winner to choose the desired stipulation for SummerSlam. Ambrose faced Alberto Del Rio and managed to pin him for the three-count at 15.42 after hitting Dirty Deeds.

Chris Jericho vs Luke Harper

Chris Jericho vs Luke Harper, Seth’s time runs out

After gaining the stipulation of banning Eric Rowan from ringside, Chris Jericho faced Luke Harper with the chance to ban him too from Bray Wyatt’s corner at SummerSlam. Y2J locked in the Walls of Jericho when the match reached its heights, but the screen flashed and Bray was standing at ringside laughing. Rowan came from behind, but Jericho delivered a Codebreaker. Harper tried to attack, but he too faced a Codebreaker. Wyatt ran in the ring and took Jericho down, apparently with a thumb to the throat which gave Jericho the win via DQ ultimately banning Harper from the PPV match.

With 15.42 as the time set to beat, Seth Rollins was initially supposed to fight Rob Van Dam. But The Authority made things easier for the MITB briefcase holder and send in Heath Slater to face him. Dean Ambrose appeared at ringside as Rollins continued to beat up Slater. But Ambrose managed to distract Rollins and all it took was a glass of drinks, some popcorn and JBL’s hat in his briefcase to steal Ambrose’s attention and allow Slater to roll him up for the win which gives Ambrose the power to decide the stipulation next week.

Lesnar and Cena interview, Stephanie vs Brie is official

While there was no John Cena and Brock Lesnar live on the show, both of them were involved in a promotional interview hyping their SummerSlam match. Lesnar said that he is there to hurt Cena and take away the belts from him. If he had stayed in the WWE, there would be no Cena. Cena displayed big heart and stated that like always he is going to stand his ground and fight and Lesnar should come get some. Lesnar ends by saying that he will leave Cena lying on his blood, vomit and urine.

In the final segment, Stephanie and Brie came out with Triple H and Nikki Bella respectively to sign the contract for their match at SummerSlam. Brie sweared to beat The Authority figure for all those roster members she had tortured. They both sign the papers and then Stephanie takes out Nikki with a cheap shot. Triple H corners Brie with the table as she helplessly watches her sister get Pedigreed by Stephanie. Brie slaps Hunter and tries to attack Stephanie but Steph smashes head before hitting her with the second Pedigree of the night to pose with her husband on top of her victims as Raw goes off the air.
