WWE release Finn Balor 'Over' T-shirt
WWE have proven they're not going to take themselves too seriously. Over the past few weeks, there have been many rumours that WWE have been stifling Finn Balor's progress and not backing him creatively as they don't think he's over with the WWE Universe.
Anyone on Twitter will have spotted Finn Balor poking fun at this, pointing to his interaction with every single member of the WWE Universe (or the Balor Club as he calls them) when he does his entrance, seeing buildings full of people throw their arms into the sky. Not to mention posting a photo with his Thanksgiving turkey and joking that he hadn't OVER cooked it.
He even changed his Twitter handle to Finn Balor Forever and has been tweeting out photos of him in ring with the caption "fOreVER", as a running joke.
WWE have responded by releasing this T-shirt.
WWE unveiled the shirt on Twitter, with the word "FOREVER" but "OVER" in a different colour of text. A pretty ingenious marketing move to poke fun at themselves, and one which I'm sure the older fans of the product will definitely appreciate. This is also a dig at famous wrestling journalist - Dave Meltzer.
One thing a lot of people don't seem to appreciate is the way the first ever Universal Champion has been booked recently, feuding with The Miztourage, being booked in a rivalry against Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel in recent weeks after being defeated by Kane as part of his rivalry with Braun Strowman.
He was also recently booked in a feud with Bray Wyatt, where he was scheduled to face "Sister Abigail" - Bray Wyatt in quite creepy attire - which wasn't met with a great response. An unfortunate bout of illness sidelined that match, which was a blessing in disguise as we saw Balor face The Phenomenal AJ Styles in a match which teased something happening in the future between the two, with them sharing a "Too Sweet" in the ring afterwards, a nod to their Bullet Club days.
Surprising as WWE loves big characters, and Finn Balor's Demon is arguably the biggest in WWE right now - not to mention his incredible run in NXT, and his blistering start on WWE RAW before an injury forced him to relinquish his title. Unfortunately, his comeback has been lukewarm, but this shirt and the "OVER" social media campaign may just be the launchpad Balor needs for WWE to give him the big push.
