WWE extends Rey Mysterio's contract till 2015
WWE superstar Rey Mysterio’s contract has been extended for another year which will keep him tied to the industry until 2015.
It seems Vince McMahon will hold on to his long time employee for another year amidst some unique terms mentioned in his contract.
Originally, Mysterio’s contract was supposed to have ended a few weeks ago. But the extended contract is not a new one in anyway. In fact, WWE has stated that Mysterio was obliged to extend his term for a year, in order to repay them for all the injuries he suffered during his wrestling career. In case one wonders, an injured superstar’s contract can be frozen by the WWE.
Mysterio may not be used in matches for the remainder of his contract. He gets handsomely paid regardless of his activeness in the ring. Mysterio has wrestled for over two decades now and with injuries hampering his involvement in the ring, WWE are not willing to take any more risks by investing on him as he has been viewed as a liability by the company.
Currently, Mysterio is out of action with a hand injury.
